From the idea to the realisation

After long and intensive preparations, and the search for an favorable location, our “Gallerion” was finally opened in Summer of 2005 at Istrian town of Novigrad/Cittanova, with an permanent exhibition “Our Austro-Hungarian Navy”. This exhibition should serve as an core for the future maritime museum dedicated to the research of the national and international maritime & naval history and tradition. The motive power behind this idea is the firm “Studio Gobbo d.o.o.” from Groznjan/Grisignano with partners, and the opening was helped by the city of Novigrad, that offered suitable and convenient premises in the old town center, as an part of the programme called City as Living Museum, to augment the attraction of the town, and to promote the touristic offers with additional cultural manifestations and happenings.
